ENDOWED AND NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDS
|
The following is a complete list of the funds and scholarships established by donors
to benefit the high school and our students. Most of the funds described below are
endowed and will grow in perpetuity, thus continuing to make a difference for as
long as Lancaster Catholic High School exists.
We are deeply grateful for the generosity that these funds represent. Additional gifts can be made to any of the endowed funds

Scholarships January 12, 2010
• The Towne Club of Lancaster - for seniors who plan to attend a
technical school after graduation. Typically, the award amount is $1000. An
official transcript, guidance counselor recommendation, and formal yearbook
picture is required with the application. The deadline to apply is March 16,
2010.
• The John Ryan Memorial Award - for graduating seniors who will be
attending either a 2 or 4 year college upon graduation or who will be entering
any branch of the military. Also, the student must have been adopted or is
currently a foster child through Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency. In
addition to the application, students must submit two letters of recommendation,
and an autobiography of 300 words or less. The deadline to apply is March 30,
2010.
• Lancaster County Assoc of Family and Consumer Sciences - for graduating
seniors planning to attend college with an emphasis in FCS or a related major
(i.e. Foods and Nutrition, Interior Design, Clothing and Textiles, Child
Development – please note Elementary Education or Child Psychology do not
qualify). Applications must include two letters of recommendation, a transcript,
and an essay. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2010.
• Military Officer’s Assoc of America Scholarship - for seniors planning
to attend college upon graduation and who have an immediate family member who
has served or who is serving in the United States Military. This is a one-time
award of $1200. A transcript, three letters of recommendation, and essay are
required. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2010.
• The Ray Tyo St. Ferdinand Scholarship - given annually to one male and
one female student from LCHS who plan to attend a Catholic college or
university. The value of this award is approximately $8000. The completed
application should be returned to Ms. Robinson in the guidance office no later
than March 1, 2010.
• Mount Bishop’s Scholarship - for students accepted to Mount Saint
Mary’s University worth $17,000 per year. An essay, letter of recommendation
from your pastor, and completed application must be submitted to the admissions
office by February 1, 2010. For an application and additional information,

Scholarships February 1, 2010
• Lancaster County Chapter Penn State Alumni Schol.- four merit awards of
$1000 each will be given to students who plan to enroll at a Penn State campus
in the Fall of 2010. Two additional awards will be given to students based on
financial need. An essay is required. The deadline to apply is April 2, 2010.
• Dollars for Scholars – interest-free loans available to students who
will attend college full-time and who demonstrate financial need. A copy of the
1st two pages of your parents completed 2009 tax return must be included with
the application. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2010.
• Ervin Steele Nursing Scholarship – two $1000 awards are being given to
Lancaster County students who will be pursuing a Nursing degree upon graduation.
An official transcript and essay are required. The deadline to apply is April
20, 2010.
• Metro Bank – Cash for College Scholarship - awards of up to $2500 are
available to seniors who further their education. Two essays and an official
transcript are required. The deadline to apply is March 12, 2010.
• The Lesher Scholarship – for students from Reamstown who plan to attend
college upon graduation. Applications must include an official transcript and a
copy of your acceptance letter to college. The deadline to apply is May 15,
2010.
• The Lancaster County Conservation District – Ann Brown Memorial Schol.
– for seniors who plan to pursue a degree which focuses on natural resources or
conservation. A resume, transcript, copy of college acceptance letter, an essay
and a letter of recommendation are required. The deadline to apply is March 31,
2010. |
